AMIRAT PLANET

On this planet there are different types of people wich also have different thoughts, but they have very clear that respect is one of the most important values. There are shy in some cases but not in all, are usually very outgoing, when they have some crazy idea usually made without much thought so they are very impulsive. These people do not let other tell you what to do, usually do what they want . They live one day at a time, but nevertheless somewhat concerned about their future, but try not affect them.

Are people who hate hypocry, therefore they are very very honest people. Also do not like people who are shallow and only care about physical and material aspects. They are people who like to see the inner of a person and not just the physical and material things. They worry about the real feelings of a person. Are sensitive and always try to help each other, love to listen to others but also to listen to them. Have character and do not let other people with different thougths influence their decisions , have its own criteria.Have no problem showing their feelings openly. Are in love and struggle to find true love.

But there are not only good things there are also negative aspects. Often are paranoid because they are perfeccionist and when something goes wrong they can be confused much. Are often self-centred and very much proud.

The peolpe for this planet are similar to venusian because they care about their feelings and do not feel ashamed of expresing, and are similar to martians becasuse in some cases they are proud and i think that the people in mars do not like others to help them with their problems and that shows some pride.

CULTURAL VALUES

This Tuesday went to the university in a bus from Heredia-San Jose wich was a lot of people standing, in a moment i saw a very old lady was going to get on the bus with some dificultt..and in that moment y saw a boy gave up her seat on which he was to the lady. This shows that this young man applied the value of "Respect for age" because obviosly it would be too difficult for her stand in the bus.



A few months ago my grandmother was ill, and she had to be aproximetily one month in the hospital..in those days my mother and my aunts had to go and help take care, this is an example of " centrality of family" because she had to alternate with my aunts to look my grandma and had to make like an schedule because my aunts and my mom had to work and so do not leave her alone.

What adivice would you give to a friend suffering from culture shock?
I would say thats not all are bad, that try to see the good things of the new culture to wich it faces, that try to make friends and to find something that distracted.

What personality traits do you think could help prevent culture shock?
I think if the person is open minded and is willing to meet new people and new cultures, is not afraid to change and live one day at a time, would have a personality suited to not suffer much culture shock.

Why is culture important in studying languague?
its important because studying a diferent language not only means that you have to learn grammar or listening part...its means that you have to laern about the culture and his diferents aspects like food, traditions, costums.. this things make studying about different cultures interesting..!!!

What aspects of your culture are more interesting for foreigners?
I think that diversity because we have a lot of values that are important like charisma, lowliness... and how is the costa rican people.

What aspects of your culture are more most difficult for foreigners?
I think the unputuallity its a big problem so maybe this point of our culture are difficult for foreigners...!!

What do you like best or least about American culture?
what i like least about American culture is the educational system, its not good.What i like about American culture its that they have a way of life with lots of freedom.

What do you like best or least about Costa Rican culture?
what i like best about Costa Rican culture is the food, the democracy, the freedom, i like the food and the people because we are friendly.What i like least about costa rican culture is the eviromental culture, goverment, the laws and the security..!!

What would you change about Costa Rican culture if you had the chance?
If i have the chance first of all i would change the goverment and the laws.

Homework- week1

What i like to know about english, its that now, in this days is the prinicipal way to comunicate to other people around de world, its a universal language and if you spaek or understand the english you can do whathever you want y another country because you know how to comunicate.
what i dont like about this language is the grammar...specially the sentences...in when we need to use THE PASSIVES or MODALS its soooo boring....huuumm but its important i know...
My strongest language skills.. i think its my pronunciation not in all the words. because obviously i dont have a perfect pronunciation when i speak. My weakest skills its my fluency, my vocabulary and i think my grammar when i need to write somethink...i need to know some new words, i need to improve my fluency and maybe i would like to know more confidence when i speak in front of the class. And i think that work in groups or do presentations or somethink like that are good activities...!!

what do you want to learn in this class?

i expect learn some new vocabulary...and of course i want to practice more my english...and my fluency and my pronunciation. i want to know more about other countries in the world...!!
